Personal Power (2.16.14)

Good Morning. Happy Sunday!

In the face of all the environmental degradation occurring around us, we have to again consider what we can do? Is there really anything that will make a difference as our government continues to ignore the consequences of pursuing unclean fossil fuel extraction.

On a personal level, we can choose to find our own personal power in our own lives and do what seems to have the most impact for each of us. If that is protesting another fracking site, or standing in the way of another leg of the Keystone XL pipeline, so be it and more power to you. We need more actual resistance to get the message across that we just are not interested in the old solutions to solve our energy problems. However, these acts of resistance do not come without risk, as we watch again and again peaceful protesters being arrested and going to trial for their "crimes." What about the crimes of humanity against the Mother Earth?

I suspect all of this craziness in the United States that encourages jailing of citizens for rather benign "crimes" is related to the prisons for profit industry (but that is a whole different subject).

Today I'd rather focus on our personal power, and what we can do as individuals to make a difference as our planet cries out to be healed. We do not have to go as far as putting ourselves directly on the front lines of this war against climate change. Instead, we can make lasting and major impacts in our daily living that will send a clear message that we have had enough. As more people follow this example, things will change, and hopefully sooner, rather than later.

So, what can we do? We can garden...in our backyards, in community gardens, or even in containers on our porch. We can search out and find clean organic seeds, local if possible. We can save our seeds and share them. We can join Community Supported Agriculture if we can't garden, or even to supplement our own homegrown food. Many CSA programs offer meats as well as fruits and vegies. Be sure your farmer is farming organically and/or using clean and natural methods to grow produce and livestock.

We can start shopping locally, but even more extreme, start shopping in thrift stores and at garage sales. We need to re-use instead of promoting the production of more goods. Of course we need to recycle whatever we can. Put as little as possible in the landfills. Compost organic materials. Begin to barter among friends and neighbors. Many social networks have groups for doing this.

Stop buying GMO products. Buy organic and send the message that GMO's are not what we want on a global scale. Boycott those companies who have given money to defeat the GMO labeling bills. Many of them are "organic" companies. Be careful and do your research.

Stop supporting Big Pharma and the Industrial Medical Complex if you can. Believe it or not, there are many successful and alternative healing methods. Of course if you are entrenched in the system, you will need counseling and guided help to extract yourself in a healthful way. Seek out Naturopathic doctors who can help you with both traditional and nontraditional types of healing.

The best way to avoid being involved in Big Medical is of course to take care of yourself, and eating organic food goes a long way in the right direction. Starting a meditation program will also help. As we all begin to align ourselves with how we are supposed to eat and take care of our bodies, our energetic vibrations will change and we will begin to heal on many levels. As we begin to live with the Earth, as we are supposed to , in a natural way, not only will our bodies and spirits thank us, but we will also begin to heal our planet in major ways.

It's all about flexing our own personal power. We can make some changes that will benefit not only our planet, but also our own lives in positive ways. We have the power within us to decide we want to be a part of the climate solutions and not continue to contribute to the same old mainstream paradigm that has helped to create this climate crisis. We must change our thinking if we expect things to change. Never forget that all things and situations begin with a thought.

Personal Power. I have the power within me to help my Mother Earth, and also help myself and humanity. Do you? What can we do today to move in the right direction and away from our dependence on fossil fuels and mainstream materialist culture?

Love to all.
