Connect to spirit (1-26-14)

Good morning. Happy Sunday!

I'd like to talk more about connecting to self, spirit and nature in this week's sermon. How do we do that?

If we take some time away from our ego and our busy schedules, we find the time. It can be as little as ten or twenty minutes of meditation each morning before the day really begins, or in the evening, after the responsibilities are taken care of. Or, one can take a nice solo walk in nature, which always serves as a meditative practice, connecting one to nature, but also to the higher self, as we experience the beauty around us. Even in the middle of winter, it can be a nice break to bundle up and take a few minutes to visit with the trees and wildlife around us. One can also connect through creative endeavors---whatever gets you in the "flow" which is essentially a connection to higher self or spirit through our activities.

This week I have been connecting to self through a self imposed water fast. I am hoping to heal my body, but also to connect to my higher self. As my body focuses on detoxing, my mind has more freedom and energy to bypass ego and be in tune with the spirit within. (Legal disclaimer: Keep in mind that water fasts are difficult endeavors and you should consult your medical doctor before you proceed, to make sure that your body is able to handle the extended period of detox and lack of daily nutrients. There are retreat centers that offer extended and medically supervised fasts.)

Whatever we decide to do, connecting to spirit is vitally important, for without that connection we continue to be overly influenced by the mainstream thinking and programming of the world around us. Trust me, there is so much more to the human experience than big screen TVs, consumerism and materialism. so, turn it all off for a few minutes each day and find some meaning in yourself. You are a beautiful spirit full of love and talents that are waiting to awaken and be shared with the world. Revel in yourself (ego aside) and have a real conversation with your spirit.

Love to all.

Have a beautiful day!

Disconnect and reconnect (1.19.14)

Good morning. Happy Sunday!

This week I'd like to talk about disconnecting from electricity, especially the television, but also other forms of technology that keep us stuck in the mainstream paradigm of thinking.

This mainstream status quo keeps society functioning in a frequency that benefits the corporatocracy, but has little positive effects in the lives of everyone else. As we continue to function under the old belief system that we need to contribute to society, mainly monetarily through the production and purchase of more material goods, but also by supporting the outdated systems that hold it all in place, we will see little change in ourselves and in our world. Perhaps this is fine for some. But others might like to see themselves in a better spiritual place or see the world as a kinder, and more loving place. We seem to be stuck in the same old patterns, merely doing the same old things and getting the same results for our actions.

So many of us go to work, and pay our bills (if we are lucky) and then come home to eat a Standard American Diet (which is killing us), turn on the big black box and tune out to the programming that is being fed to us. Same old, same old. Where is the life in that? I don't know about anyone else, but that scenario makes me feel trapped, like a rat in a cage, running back and forth, performing for some reward that is never enough.

So, how do we get unstuck? We disconnect. Turn off the television. Turn off the computer, at least the mind numbing, low frequency programs, like social media and/or video games. Do this for a day. Do this for a week and see how you feel. Do this for longer, and you might just get to know someone else inside of yourself--your spirit or higher self.

When you are tuned into the mainstream programs, you are being programmed to stay where you are and continue to do what you do to support the materialistic society that is killing us all and destroying our planet. The bottom line is the only thing that matters in this system. At any cost, profits will always come before people and planet.

I don't want to be part of that system. I see something better for our world and for every living thing on our planet. I see a loving world where people are kind and help and support one another; a world that is green and alive and a planet not being exploited and raped for the few remaining "resources" that give certain members of mankind an edge over others.

Change is coming, it really is, albeit very slowly. In order for any lasting changes to come about on a scale that we can see and on a level that makes a big difference, we have to disconnect and clear the mind fog that has been plaguing our lives for so long. Who are we? Really, who are we? What do we want for ourselves and our families? What do we want for our community and our global society? Who and what is humanity?

Turn off the TV, the internet, the smart phones, the video games and listen to the silence for a little while. Listen to your spirit. Let your mind and body return to a natural state of being that is far healthier than being plugged into a mind controlling grid that keeps you running after the dangling carrot. Tune into nature for a while and see how that feels. Even for a little while.

As you disconnect more and more, you will begin to want to spend more time in nature, surrounding yourself with living things and the beauty of life. You will begin to realize that you're a part of the natural system, even more so than the the made up fictional system of a materialistic world. You will feel your mind expand beyond the reality TV shows and into something so much bigger where you begin to see the bigger picture of all of life. You will begin to feel your connection to everything natural around you, and sense that you are a part of it, that essentially we are all One, connected, living being. There is no separatism, except when we allow ourselves to be sucked into the vortex of mainstream programming and continue on about our days, never questioning any of it.

Turn it off, for a few hours each day, for a few days each week, and for longer if you can, and reconnect with your higher self. Raise your frequency and you will begin to feel alive in ways you never thought possible. You will begin to be the natural being you are meant to be, and the world around you will respond, embracing you in the beauty of life, and raising your energetic vibration to one where the planet we live on becomes the Utopia we envision, and where peace and love and kindness are the norm, not the exception.

Disconnect from the programming and allow your spirit to shine forth. It will guide you and allow you access to a joyful new world.

Love to all.

Have a beautiful, quiet day.

Communication (1.12.14)

Good day and Happy Sunday!

Welcome to my Sunday Sermon. Today I'd like to explore the idea of communication.

We are in a state of constant communication with the world and others around us. Even when we don't say a single word, we are sending messages. What messages are we sending?

If it is true that most of our communication is non verbal, then we have to become aware of our body language as well as our attitude. If we can live from a place of love, then it would seem that whatever communication we send out would also be from a place of love.

Conversely, if we exist in a constant state of anger, then what are we saying to people around us? What are we telling the world and the Universe?

All things are connected. We are One. Everything is energy in one form or another. Our methods of communication are forms of energy. Our thoughts, our words, our emotions, and our actions are forms of energy. Even when we are sitting still in meditation, we are still vibrating some amount of energy.

If we live in a state of fear, what messages are we sending? In our current world, there seems to be a lot of fear going around, as well as entities breeding fear for their control tactics. As humanity exists in fear, what are the repercussions of such energy? Fear breeds more fear.

Like attracts like, whether it is fear, anger or love.

What we communicate to the Universe is what comes back to us. We see this as a direct result of our communication. If we spew out words of anger, then most likely the being(s) receiving will respond to us in anger as well. If we live and espouse attitudes of fear, then it comes back to us as our children act in fear, as our communities respond in fear, and so on.

Now, let us examine communication from a point of love. If we can find love within our self and bring that forth into our world, what will we see? What energy will surround us and come back to us? Love and acts of kindness will return to us. All beings within our sphere of energy will respond in kind to the love we project out. Our friends and family, our pets, and even our houseplants will become more loving as they absorb the love energy we are radiating outward. As we become beings of love and kindness, then our world becomes a loving and kind place. I suspect even Nature would respond with love, if treated with love and respect.

It is our responsibility then to find and practice love in every aspect of our life. If we can. It is certainly something to aspire to, isn't it? If we become aware of ourselves and do not allow a self-serving ego to gain the upper hand, this task becomes easier.

We must go within in order to change the world. There is no other way. By changing self, the world around us changes to reflect back to us what we are energetically putting out there, what we are communicating.

So, no matter what we might be doing, we are communicating with the world around us. Even if we withdraw from everything around us, we are still sending a message.

It is important that we become aware of the messages we are sending, and what we are communicating to others and to the Universe. What kind of energy dominates our lives?

Live in love. Act with kindness. Communicate peace.

Love to all.

Have a beautiful day.

New Year, new beginning (1.5.14)

Good morning. Happy Sunday! And Happy New Year!

A new year...think of the possibilities....

Each day is a new opportunity to begin again. So, if yesterday didn't go the way I wanted it to...I have the option, the choice to start anew, each morning, or whenever I become aware that I have the choice. This year I will make better choices. I will try to live more consciously and be aware that I do have power over my own life.

As the new year solidifies into reality, let's think about how we'd like this year to go. Each day we make choices that will determine the outcome of our future days. If we live consciously and avoid reacting, we can make better choices than we might if we live unconsciously, reacting to events and people.

By focusing on NOW, we have less to worry about and can live in each moment, making it the best it can be.

This week let's meditate on peace and love and what we'd like our future year to look like. Let's try to remember that the reality we create is a reflection of us, and our inner self.

If we work on our self, we become more enlightened and our reality reflects the spiritual growth back to us in our every day living.

I'd like my world to be a nicer place, a safer place, a more creative and loving place, so that is what I will try to emulate every day. It may be a high aspiration, but I have to try. And I can begin again, any time I want or need to.

Love to all.
